SEO # How to handle multiple top level country domains?

In our previous article which was SEO # How to detect errors and misplacements in your SEO? we discussed how we can detect errors in our SEO and HTML using the Google Webmaster Tools. Today we will like to explain on how we can setup multiple top level domains for each separate country for a website in SEO perspective.

If you host same content on 2 domains on same ip address that is considered duplication by Google. So in the same context a question arose in our mind does Google count country specific tld’s as spam and duplication as well because essentially when you have a lot of country specific domains for your business the content on all domains almost remains same.

So some questions which come to mind are:

Is it considered spam when we have many country level domains for our business?

Ans: No it is not considered spam when you have many country level domains like .in, .de, .se for your main .com website because giving country specific services is considered imminent for many business’s that is why Google does not consider it a spam practice to have many country specific domains for your website.

Is it considered duplication of content when we have many country level domains for our business?

Ans: This is really tricky sometimes it is considered duplication and sometimes not, but what we have found out is that whenever content is relevant to the page being indexed it is not considered duplicate but if content is non relevant it may be considered duplication and not used in indexation.

Do we put all our country specific domains on a separate server located in that country?

Ans: Not necessarily, ideally it will be beneficial to your users but if you do not have the budget to do the same you do not need to do it for SEO and Google.

Do we put all our country specific domains on a separate ip address allocated for that country?

Ans: Not necessarily, ideally it is beneficial but it is not needed for SEO and for Google. Google can identify if a domain is a top level domain for a country or not without the unique ip address.
